Yoga, is it bad for Christians?

This is a short post as a follow up  to a blog post I replied to the other day.  Pastor Mike asked the question,"Can u still b a Christian & continue practicing yoga? http://ow.ly/tU1X

Here was my original post as well: Good article. I took a World Religions class in college and in the section that taught on Buddhism, yoga is spiritual meditation towards Buddha. Many Americans don't know this, they think it is away of just stretching and exercising, but if they would research it they would find out the truth. Also many Americans go on vacations or home stores and buy a cute Buddha statue and decorate their homes with it, not realizing they have just a foreign/false God/Idol. We all must be careful in these last day, and protect ourselves from evil. Some of the earthly things we think are right, aren't in God's eyes, and one day we will all have to answer to him.

Now this is what I wish to add to that: Hey Pastor mike, some of these comments really disturbed me, since they were coming from Christians, and yet sounded so naive. Here is a link to a Hindu temple that teaches on yoga as a way to "become one with Krishna, their idol god.

Here is also a pictures of that idol, of course in a yoga pose. http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India/Karnataka/Mysore/blog-5458.html  Hope this helps some people.

Now I say to all Christians, God tells us explicitly in the Holy Bible, that that he is the One and only God, creator of Heaven and earth, the Alpha and Omega, and that no one can get to heaven without the Son, Jesus Christ.  Also he tells us in the 10 commandments that thou shall have no other Gods (Exodus 20).  If you think there is nothing wrong with practicing yoga which makes you one with a Hindu statue, than I guess you thought nothing was wrong when the Israelites having drunk sex parties around the golden calf either (Exodus 32).  It's not the same you say, well why isn't it?

  2. Dear Friend,

//than I guess you thought nothing was wrong when the Israelites having drunk sex parties around the golden calf either (Exodus 32). //

YOGA is teaching to control ones body and mind , not to indulge drink or have sex parties!

    EXODUS 20

//1. And God spake all these words, saying,

    2. I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

    3. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

    4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

    5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;//

This is said to be the covenent made between the Israel people and the God of Israel by Moses. We can understand that If the God of Israel have releived the Jews from the bondage at Egypt and brought them to new land, as a receprocal, he can insist that to pray him only. We agree with the religious freedom of Jews, I am ready to offer my services to the Jewish Synogoge, we dont hate Jews, we want each and every Jew to be protected, honoured and looked upon with love , infact we want each and every man in the world to be treated with respect honor love and protected.

But we dont understand that why the covenent made between the Isreal and the God of the Isreal has to be thrusted upon in ecah and every person in this world.

You have to think a lot my friend.

How can the civilised world adopt the concepts developed by stone aged man?

Please free feel to send us your opinions.

The Indias, the Chinese, The German, The French, The Russian… our ancestors were never kept in Bondage in Egypt, and not rescued by any one, God or man. We have nothing to do with the commendments made by Moses. Then why shall not we worship GOD in shape! Infact we dont object the form of worship of any religion , we are ready to participate in their worship!

  3. RONDA'S REPLY:

Hello, thank you for your comment on my blog "ronda's revelations". I just read your blog and was sad that your "friend" did that to you. I figure there was two reasons he done it. One- he may have just been so worried about you and loved you, that he wanted you to "see the truth" so that you would not "burn in hell". Or Two-- because he was a jerk. Which it sounds more like the second option to me. However, please do not stay offended or hold a grude against all Christians, because of one bad apple.

I do understand your religon as it is polytheistic, and I would never say anything bad to you. I have friends, neighbors, and co-workers of various religions and I have never condemned them. I always am friendly and loving towards the people I come in contact with.

My article on Yoga, is directed only to "Bible based Christians" Which believes to have No other Gods but Jesus. He has to be the One and only for us. The Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is not three deities, but One. This is because it is not one + one + one =3, but 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. I wrote my article because I wanted to educate some Christians who thought they were just "exercising" by doing yoga, to teach them that it more than that. And if you are truely Hindu you know that it is. I feel it is fine for Hindus and Buddists to do this as it is their belief, but it is not ours.

My example from Exodus with the golden calf, was to explain, that God does not want us to be associated in any way shape or form with another god. Another example, is it alright for Christians to play with Tarot Cards, no. A Christian should think it is evil and stay away. But for the one who is a Wicca/ witch etc. it is fine. Their beliefs is on them. This means no Indian Rain Dances, no buddist mediations, no conjuring up spirits. A Bible based Christians must stay away from that sort of stuff. It says it in the new Testament as well as old. (Galatians 5:19-21,Deuteronomy 18:9-14)

My motto is let each believe as they feel and were raised, I am not to judge, let God do that on judgement day. I will help anyone who needs help or understanding. I will talk, explain, pray or do what ever I can to help someone, but I will not fuss or condemn anyone.

Again I hope you understand and realize not are Christians are like the experience you had at your friends house. If not then let us agree to disagree, and I wish you the best in life. Thank you

  4. Dear Ronda,

Thank you for visiting our blog, and many thanks for having shared your opinions.

//I just read your blog and was sad that your “friend” did that to you. I figure there was two reasons he done it. I did not had grudge aginst that christian friend of my native, those who preached him put hatred in his mind , which he delivered to me. I never have a grudge againt christians, I dont have any grudge against any one in the world, I dont hate any one , I wish to share my opinions only, if my opinions are useful for any, I am happy !

//he wanted you to “see the truth”//

Now we have to use the word Truth with care. We can not consider any thing truth unless proved. A Truth sahll be the one which
can be verified any number of times at any place, at any time.

For an example its a truth that "when a electric conductor is cutting across a magntic field , an electric current will pass through the conductor, if it forms a closed circuit." This truth can be proved, verified any number of times at any place.

But the belief is only a belief, it can not be considered as truth, unless its proved and verifiable. We are moving towsrds more civilized socity, we have to understand the difference between belief and truth clearly.

    Contd...

  5. A belief is belief only. If every one says that his belief alone is truth, that leads to conflict. Jews claim that the name of the GOD is jehova and he is the God of Israel, as per them Moses is the last prophet , Christ is yet to come. Christians interpret Jehoava as the GOD ( In my view the qulaities of “FATHER” , as the “GOD” described by Jesus christ was totally different to those of Jehova) , with Jesus Christ as Son Of GOD also Jesus Christ also as the same GOD, Islam says Moses, Jesus are prophets, the latest final Prophet is Mohammed, the new name for the GOD is Allah.

If everyone keep their beliefs, (all claims are beliefs only,) and do their worship and other religious practices peacfully (without claiming that their belief is the only truth), the world would have been a nice place. But every one were adament to claim that their belief alone is the TRUTH , but no one has proof, so to “decide” whose belief is the “Truth”, they resorted to combat, raising the swords . As the time passes, the principles, the adamancy, the zeal to prove that their belief alone is right remains the same, the change is only on the weapons, they started using modern weapons. It was estimated that The number of lives lost in Crusade wars is more than those died in two world wars put together.

I respect your belief. I told to my native friend (christian preacher), that I was ready to join in his prayer, I was willing to go 2 miles with him. But he was in fact tried to draft me to the religious bigotry, intolerannce, he was trying to mkae me to join in his mission to convert this earth a a "burnig hell". I think he He was not knowing the effects of intolerance.

I agree that all the christains are not like that, he was arraogant, you (Ronda) are gentle and friendly, but unfortunately you are also projecting the same concept to me, hope you understand by now.

  6. Before I finsh, I have to mention that I travelled length and breadth of India, I never heard of or come across with any “Indian Rain Dances”, I never heard of it. I went to many temples, many religious festivals, but this rain dance is a good imagination, I heard today from you. The conjuring of the spirits is fake, its not part of Hinduism, majority ofthe Hindus avoid that, only a small percentage resort to it.

I also wish to share few words about meditation, meditation means concentrating ones mind. Leave away all your worries, pleasure, pains, debits, credits forget every thing and just concentrate your mind on some thing , you can concentrate your mind on sky, river, Jesus Christ, cross… or anything. That is like a mental exercise. As how the Jagging and weight lifting form as phsical exercise , meditation is an mental exercise. I am not compelling or suggesting you or any one to do the meditation. But meditation does not produce any ill effects. Instead spending more time on partying, if a man spends some time on meditation , what is wrong in it? Absolutely peace method to elevate oneself! Infact when any one prays at God, if he leaves way his attchments and concentrate on his prayer, its a form of meditation only, or I can say it gives the same effect of meditation, if you dont like to attach meditation tag to your prayer. I think you will agree that if any one wanders in their thoughts during the the time of prayer, she/ he would not have a satisfied prayer, right?

I thank you once again , I wish you peace, joy, hale & and good health!

//Again I hope you understand and realize not are Christians are like the experience you had at your friends house. If not then let us agree to disagree, and I wish you the best in life. Thank you//

    Wonderful, thank you very much!
